The default choice at a position: the profile's defaultOptionItemCode when it is set and among
the options. Otherwise (missing, null or unknown), for a required position other than the fabric,
the option named "standard", else the free one, else the first; a fabric and an optional position
get none. A fabric without a default is the customer's choice.
The server fills a required position the request leaves out with defaultOptionItemCode only;
the fallback here is a choice the client then sends explicitly.
